About the Author
Innovator, patent holder, entrepreneur, writer and poet, Haresh Sippy is a self- made man who plays several roles with ease. With nearly five decades of experience in the design and manufacture of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, he has evolved to be a guru in the field of heat transfer. He attributes his achievements to his firm belief in innovation.
The importance of this belief has been evident all along. His first major project as an engineering entrepreneur resulted in significant import substitution for his clients Esso Refinery and ONGC.
While setting up Tema India in 1984, the fledgling enterprise overcame multiple challenges through innovation. Research & Development has been the cornerstone of his success. Developing proprietary technology has given his company an edge over the competition.
His passion for innovative solutions to make India self-reliant has resulted in multiple patents for the screw-plug technology used in clean-fuel programmes across the world. His patents not only make exchangers extremely safe in service but also ensure ease of maintenance throughout the equipment’s lifecycle of 25–30 years.
Sippy can often be found sharing his experience with engineering and management students. He has also been working on imparting vocational training and employable skills to the underprivileged youth of the country as his way of giving back to the tribal community of Maharashtra that has supported him all through his professional journey.
